I’m back and now we shall talk about how the internet and computer saves our trees. The internet and computer are both new media and as we know both of them are slowly killing the old media that needs papers, pencils , which indeed came from our trees. I’ll side track a little bit here, anyone who has blu-ray i totally recomment Planet Earth – The Complete BBC Series. If you want to see fish flying in your TV or see how beautiful your HDTV would become, then this thing is for you. Back to our topic, here are some of the sectors that had been deeply or will be deeply affected by computers and internet.

Newspaper
We all know that newspaper is slowly becoming a thing of the past, this is not just in US both all over the world. Younger generation don’t even want to read one and this causes a lot of newspaper company to shutdown or embrace the internet as its new media.

Snail Mails
How many times have you written a snail mail to your friend or to anyone you know? Birthday cards, greeting cards and all of the cards that you usually give during special occasion before, do you still do them now? Or just twitter them or post a greetings on their wall?

Music and Video
Many of you might wonder why music and video relates to saving our trees. Before internet the method of distributing music and video to you is via disc or cassette, which would need something to cover them. In relation to that they need album covers and movie covers, most of them are either paper or plastic. Imagine how many trees would be saved if people decided to buy The Fray’s album online instead of having the cd. It doesn’t stop with just the album and movie. This extends to lyrics, guitar tabs, piano tabs, lyrics and music compositions, video catalog, posters, scripts and a lot more.

Artistic Drawings
In the old days, our artist uses a lot of method in creating perfect arts, in the time of computer while there are still a lot of them left. Some of the artistic mind are shifted to making computer arts, some went to gaming, some went to building websites, some went to animation and a lot more. Imagine how many paper and pencils were saved by letting our artist friend draw on the computer.

Engineering Sector
Before computer, engineers would have to draw their blueprint and calculate their mathematics on a piece or paper. And usually blueprints are drawn over and over again. With the help of software like AutoCAD they could see their blueprint instantly and all they have to do is print the final blueprint.

Libraries
With all the resources almost online at the tip of your fingertip, people now a days are learning that they don’t have to go their libraries to answer their simple questions, ofcourse there are still a lot of exception like why people must go to the library, this includes special papers, research papers and stuff but one day, i believe these would be available online as well.

Kids Drawing Books
I used to have a lot of these went i was young, this released the creativity out of me, but kids these days are given computers at a very young age and parents just buy softwares that they think their child would want to play. This seems to be more advantage to parents due to the fact that young people cannot eat the mouse compare to eating the crayons and the child is cleaner after playing computers then say playing water colors. This also extends to kids games, a cool stuff that would be the future toys for our kids is siftables.


Books
With the e-books reader becoming a lot topic today and with the forthcoming Kindle 2 on its way. E-books would lessen the production of books especially when e-book really hit big in other places than US.

And a lot more
Schools, Hospitals, Porn Industry, Banks and a lot of.

I therefore conclude that we should promote internet and computer to save more trees which would therefore save our world.

Say you want to watch your favorite tv shows online, (hulu is not available in other place, those people think that the only country in the world is US), and you really want to watch it. You can go to Chinese video sites like youku.com and search for the shows that you want to watch, all you have to do is locate the search box and start searching. But how?

Usually they would name tv shows like heroes 第三季 07, or heroes第三季 第07集, now what does this mean? The first Chinese words, 第三季, means the 3rd quarter or the 3rd season, then the 2nd Chinese words, 第07集, means the 7th part or the 7th article or 7th set. Now what if i want to watch the 2nd episode in season 2? You would search something like ‘heroes 第二季 第2集’ or ‘heroes 第二季 第二集’ .

If we put it into a mathematical formula it should be something like
let search = x 第y季 第z集
where x is your favorite tv shows
y is the season number
z is the episode number

And here are the numbers for you to substitute from
1 = 一
2 = 二
3 = 三
4 = 四
5 = 五
6 = 六
7 = 七
8 = 八
9 = 九
10 = 十

So getting heroes season 1 ep 9 is like
search = heroes 第一季 第九集

What about numbers getter than ten? To get numbers beyond 10 you have to mix them in the formula
let num = x十y (the second character is not a plus but the Chinese ten 十)
where x be the multiplier of ten except 1, you will understand why except one later on
where y is from one to nine, then y would be added to the results of x十

Say you want to search for the 25th, it should be
二十五
Why? x is the multiplier then 2(10), 二十, is 20 then add 5,五, then its equal to 25, 二十五
Thirty four would be 三十四
Forty nine would be 四十九

You could simple rephase the formula to
let num = (x multiply to 10) plus y

Now from 11 to 19, you don’t need to add 一 to the front coz its the same with or without it.
And so 18 would be 十八
Fifteen would be 十五

If you find this way to complicated then you can use Google Translate, btw i’m not Chinese, i just studied in Hong Kong when i was small so i do know their language a bit.

I’m creating an Air application done with Flex and my problem is that it will/must execute a JSFL or a batch file. Currently i have tried using fscommand exec but failed, i even went into

Where it copies the bat file from the source folder to the application folder, coz ffcommand, as what i know only execute script inside application folder (i might be wrong here).

The content of the test.bat is
PATH=”C:\testFolder”;
cd %PATH%
test.jsfl

the content of the jsfl is
fl.openDocument( ‘file:///c:/test.fla’ );

I’m okay with any answers, either hack or the real solution, or any suggestion, anything as long as i could get it to work. Thanks a lot

But there is flaw in this on where you can watch it for free without an account (you can do it anyway on other video site). The flaw is the same as imeem.com on the beginning on where the content is at the back (usually flash) and a layer of html on the top asking you to login in order to see the content. The layer is was not done by javascript (i tired to disable javascript and it still have the layer). Anyway to cut the story short here is the steps

1) Ditch IE (Internet Explorer) and Download firefox

2) Download Firebug

3) Go to myGMA
http://www.mygma.com.ph

4) Select a video
Example http://www.mygma.com.ph/video/570/Imbestigador

5) Right click on the black overlay and select Inspect Element, there will be a yellow code highlighted right click on that
and select Delete Element

6) Do step 5 for the login box

7) Watch and enjoy

Cool i can watch GMA for free, only for a short time coz i have reported this issue to them (they are doing business) and until they have actioned according to my post.
