Over the weekend i had redone monmonja’s homepage to make it look better, i had used css3 staff and some minor jquery animation with some plugins.

I had incorporated Google Friend Connect to monmonja’s music site, why Google Friend Connect and not Facebook Connect? Mainly because facebook is not that famous in the Philippines, and Google seems to be more appropriate to use. For those people who might wonder what social network is famous in the Philippines. Its still friendster and multiply, and i use and like multiply more. 
Labs section would be temporarily removed coz my harddisk died and Google App Engine won’t let you download your own files and i didn’t have backups so ill try to get all i could and port it to php.
There might also be a transition of my tech post from here to almondmendoza.com and labs might be placed there as well. I’ll try to keep monmonja.com to music and almondmendoza.com to tech. Thanks everyone.
Brought a new harddisk for my mac laptop and installed mac leopard and ubuntu 8.10 ibex, dual booting it using refit. Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex would be released 3 days from now and i’m using it right now, hah. The thing i liked about it is the tab navigation for nautilus (file manager) and since i used the 64bit version i does feel faster. But it drawback is i have to install the 32bit version of flash, if anyone has a tutorial on install the 64bit flash version and it’s better do comment, thanks. Another thing i liked about it is the new xorg, and this time compiz can display not just cube desktop but also sphere desktop and cylinder desktop which totally looks good. I’ll still need to put back my files from my other harddisk so expect me lessen lessen my blog in the following 1-2 weeks. Thanks in advance and do support open source software.
Over the pass few months my browser share had always been firefox with 68%+. And in order for me to have an easier life, i’m turning off IE6 from the music section, expect the blog and all other sites under monmonja.com will follow with no IE Support especially IE6, for IE8 it must be standard complaint for my site to support it. It’s a tough decision but IE6 must be stopped from making web developer’s life harder and this is my way of expressing it. So if your using IE6 its time to get a real browser get firefox, opera, safari or chrome.
CakePHP had released it final release candidate before making it into the final CakePHP 1.2, the new version has a lot of improvement in accordance to speed. I had updated the lyrics/music section of the site to include the newest version and with that i have incorporated the gigya widget for you to share the links of my site, and to further improve the speed and performance of the lyrics site, i also turn the cache on for the views.
Monmonja Labs has been redesign to follow monmonja’s desgin. The transition was a bit hard coz the labs is hosted under Google App Engine (not visible in china?) meaning its server side language is Python so a lot of changes we’re made and new learning had been added. There is no new experiment but a video linking to the current status of HTML5. There is still a lot of changes needed to be made within the whole monmonja network like the page title is a bit mess or some page have no title, no seo stuff had been added, no rss and a lot more. My goal right now is to have my first adsense check and i’m still damn far about from it. ahhaha
After few months of redoing the music part of monmonja, it finally come to its beta version, the greatest change on the new site is the interface, i made it as clean as i could.
