After trying mac leopard on my new mac book, i had to switch back to ubuntu, not that i dont like mac and i’m not a mac fanboy, here is my honest experience with mac
1) I love quicksilver and i hate the dock. I guess it’s because i don’t like to use the mouse too much.
2) I love/hate the keyboard keys in mac, i brought a mac keyboard with the home and end keys which acts differently with other os, which i hate coz editing source codes i’m so use to use home/end keys going to the end of a line not the end of the page, i’ve installed the hack that will remap it but it only works on some software. I love the command button, i think its cool to have shortcuts with one key plus another, in windows/linux you use alt and control but in mac you use command most of the time.
3) I hate the one instance of an application only in mac, i mean i need 2 filezilla or vlc and i can’t do it, not even with background mode for filezilla. And one instance means the command+tab is not the coolest thing to switch from one window to another, you have to use the dock
4) The first thing i do in windows when i reformat my windows is remove the group by task in the taskbar, in mac you have to live by it, or if someone out there knows a free software that can make each windows/instance to have different icon, feel free to post in the comments section. Thank you in advance
5) Less freedom, coming from ubuntu where you can customize everything i guess both for windows and mac, you have less freedom.
6) Most of the great software in mac (except quicksilver) are commercial software, and my reason i quit windows is i don’t want to use crack/pirated software and so for that i learn to love iLife applications.
7) I love the column view, i think its the best view for folders.
8) I love the Utilities except X11 coz its not working for me, haha. I cant get GD to work so i can’t test my site.
9) I hate when i show all windows, the spaces are huge and the presentation is not cool. Vista’s show all windows is a lot cooler (I think this is part of sp1, lol)
10) I love that mac auto mount stuff for you like iso, dmg and others.

To sum up, i don’t hate mac, i don’t hate xp but i prepare Ubuntu for the reason that i feel i’m more of myself when i’m using ubuntu. And i guess it’s all that should matter. lol. I would like to see mac and linux eat more of windows marketshare, not that i hate windows but when that happens then competition will be healthier.
